I'm Joshua Merrion, a State Farm Insurance Agent and ChFC® serving Portland and communities throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. My team and I help individuals, families and business owners protect the things they've worked hard to build—with straightforward help, thoughtful conversations and as little insurance jargon as humanly possible.

Our office helps customers with auto insurance, homeowners insurance, renters insurance, life insurance, small-business insurance and other protection needs.

But our job isn't simply to sell you another policy.

It's to help you understand what you have, identify what may be missing and make informed decisions about what actually makes sense for you.

Sometimes that results in a new policy. Sometimes it doesn't. Either way, you should leave the conversation understanding your insurance better than when you walked in.

I grew up in Oregon and, along the way, managed to live in Seattle, Los Angeles and even Dutch Harbor, Alaska.

Is Dutch Harbor exciting? I will leave that up to you to decide :)

Eventually, Oregon pulled me back home, and today I'm fortunate to have a career in Portland that allows me and my team to help people every day.

We work with people at all stages of life—from someone buying their first car or home to families protecting growing assets, professionals thinking more seriously about life insurance, and small-business owners trying to protect both their businesses and the people who depend on them.

One of the things I've learned is that most people don't need more insurance terminology.

They need someone willing to explain what the terminology actually means.

My ChFC® designation and experience in insurance allow me to approach conversations from a broader perspective. Rather than looking at one policy in isolation, I want to understand what you're trying to protect and why it matters to you.

That might mean reviewing your auto and homeowners insurance together, discussing liability protection, helping you think through life insurance for your family, or working through the insurance needs of your small business.

The goal is simple: understand first, recommend second.
